LVD Testing

Regulation on Electrical Equipment Designed for Use within Certain Voltage Limits (2014/35/EU)

The Low Voltage Regulation establishes the safety rules and conformity assessment procedures governing the placing on the market of electrical equipment within its scope, once the equipment meets the regulation's safety requirements and assessment procedures.

The Low Voltage Regulation covers electrical equipment designed for use at rated voltages between 50 and 1000 volts AC and between 75 and 1500 volts DC.

Standardisation work in Türkiye has accelerated alongside the EU harmonisation process. Manufacturers of machinery and domestic appliances have consequently become more aware of LVD testing and verify product safety through testing before placing products on the market.

Which Tests Are Carried Out under the LVD?

  • Insulation Testing

  • High-Voltage Testing

  • Leakage Current Testing

  • Protective Earth Continuity Testing

Examples of Tests Performed in Our LVD Laboratory

  • Earthing Resistance Testing

  • Leakage Current Testing

  • Insulation Resistance Testing

Reporting whether test results comply with the standards is just as important as performing the electrical tests themselves. Although the tests required by the two standards are fundamentally similar, their methods and applied values differ.

It is commonly assumed that using CE-marked components is sufficient to affix the CE mark to a completed machine. However, CE-marked components alone do not establish the conformity of the newly manufactured product. The new product

must be assessed against the relevant standards before it can bear the CE mark.
